GPS Tracking Benefits Rural Farmers

How GPS Tracking Benefits Rural Farmers

GPS tracking for farm equipment

Your farm is an investment in and of itself. As a rural farmer, you must devote some time and attention toward protecting that investment and securing your financial future. The tools you have that keep your farm operational throughout the year are not exactly inexpensive – nor are the livestock you invest heavily in. GPS tracking can help you protect your assets in more ways than you realize. These are a few prime examples of how GPS can benefit you and your rural farm.
Locate Equipment Quickly and Effortlessly
The more hands you have working on your farm, the more chances you have to lose track of equipment. While some equipment, may be easy to search for with a simple visual scan, depending on the size of your farm, it could take hours to locate smaller, but expensive or critical pieces of equipment. Whether you’re looking for tractors, balers, combines, or essential small tools for you farm, GPS tracking can help you locate farm equipment in a matter of seconds rather than wasting precious hours of daylight searching for them.

Notify You of Off-Hour Operation

Teenage joy riders and other mischief-makers are quick to abscond with tractors and other farm equipment as pranks and for other intents. When you have GPS tracking installed on your farm equipment, you can receive notification whenever they are started or moved after hours. This will allow you to quickly discover when your equipment is being stolen or tampered with and live tracking will aid law enforcement in the swift recovery of your essential farm equipment.
Track Farm Animals
When you tag your farm animals with GPS tracking, it is better than branding for helping to identify cattle and other livestock you own. More importantly, it allows you to track your animals in real time. This allows you to quickly know if animals have strayed from the herd so that you can locate them quickly before harm can happen. It also helps you to track the herding behaviors of your livestock so you can manage them better while also aiding in field rotation so you can reduce concerns over pollution and erosion.

Monitor Farm Hands

You can also use GPS tracking to monitor employees and farm hands to ensure they remain on task throughout the long days on the farm and to know if you have resources in a given area to assist with certain tasks.
The bottom line is that GPS can help you run a farm that is more efficient while reducing your costs and saving money by adopting GPS technology while discouraging the theft of your farm equipment at the same time. You have much to gain and little to lose by making GPS tracking an essential tool for your rural farm.

Employee GPS Tracking

How Employee GPS Tracking Can Motivate Your Workforce Bizztor

By GPSONPLUS.COM July 30th, 2018

Keeping your employees motivated takes work. Every company wants its team to perform at their very best, but how many will actually go the extra mile without incentive?

The proper motivation will bring out the best in your strongest workers, pushing them to dig deep and fulfil their potential, while encouraging even the weakest employees to do better. Employee GPS tracking is a fantastic tool for businesses in all industries today, with various devices developed to suit diverse working environments.

How can you use GPS tracking to motivate your employees and boost their productivity? Fleet Tracking on the Road GPS devices are par for the course today. Drivers depend on them as navigational aids to reach unfamiliar destinations and find their way through bustling city traffic, but you can also use them to track your company’s drivers during their shifts.

By installing a GPS tracking device into your trucks or cars, you can ensure that workers are performing at their best, most efficient level. Drivers who are prone to making late deliveries or collections can cause significant damage to your reputation, and cost you money in lost repeat custom. With employee GPS tracking, you will be able to see where these under-performing drivers are going wrong. Are they taking inefficient routes that take up more time than they should? Are they stopping to pick up a cup of coffee and a snack every half hour?

Do they simply drive far too slowly with a lax work ethic? All of these problems can be identified and addressed just by tracking drivers for a few days.Your best, most driven (pardon the pun) workers will see this as an opportunity to improve their performance and achieve better results. After all, if they look good, your business looks good – which makes it more likely that they will gain more recognition from you for a job well done. It’s vital, though, to make sure that your best workers do receive praise and possibly bonuses when smashing targets.

Simply expecting them to put in more effort than they necessarily have to without any extra show of gratitude may backfire. Remember: workers who feel they are being driven to their limits at all times can always look for jobs elsewhere. At the very least, having GPS monitoring in place can motivate employees to behave as you expect – obeying the laws of the road, staying to the most efficient routes, avoiding long periods of letting their engine idle. Implementing GPS tracking should be a carefully-considered process, and employees should be fully informed about being tracked well ahead of time.

Monitoring In-house Activity What if your business doesn’t have a fleet of drivers making deliveries? You can still integrate GPS tracking into your everyday operations around the office, in the form of wearable tech or smartphone apps. Wearable devices are cutting-edge solutions that are convenient and non-intrusive: your employees can simply wear them around their wrist, clip them to their shirt or slip them into their pocket. Different models offer different features, but the best wearable GPS tech tracks employees’ movements, feature communication tools, and even fitness trackers. As a result, you can assess which workers are spending the most time away from their desks and which are leaving the office throughout the day.

For example, if you suspect certain employees’ productivity is being affected by their taking multiple smoke breaks when they shouldn’t, you will be able to follow their activities and identify when they visit the usual smoking zones. On a similar note, if you believe specific workers are failing to pull their slack and simply visiting other departments in the building for a gossip, you can see whenever they leave their desk to do so. This can be incredibly effective in helping to curb time-wasting and boost productivity, motivating employees to perform at their best. Your strongest workers will want to show how dedicated they are to their role, by staying at their desk, completing tasks, and minimizing how much time they spend away from their work.

Employee GPS tracking helps you to effectively highlight who is doing the most work and who is lagging behind, and makes it easier to address those issues. For example, someone who keeps visiting other departments and disrupting work performed there can be shown how much time they spend away from their desk using the tracking data. They may feel embarrassed by their behaviour and feel guilty about forcing their colleagues to pick up their slack while they are away chatting to friends. Over time, GPS monitoring can create a stronger, more efficient workforce who want to do the best they can. The important thing is to share the information gleaned from tracking their habits and show how they can improve.

Discuss how their lax approach to their job affects their colleagues, your clients, and the company overall. Use the data gathered as a means to inspire a more focused mind set. Introducing GPS tracking to your team Whichever devices you choose to integrate into your everyday processes, you must be honest and open with your entire workforce. Businesses which start tracking their employees without telling them can face serious fines and legal action, costing them money, workers, and their reputation.

After all, if customers discover that the business is willing to use underhand tactics with their own employees, what tricks might they be pulling on them? Think clearly about why you want to start using GPS monitoring, and how it will be rolled out. Will you track all departments, or just specific ones? Will there be a special incentive for workers to agree to be monitored? How long will the tracking be performed, and what will happen when the period is over? Your employees will only be motivated to do their best if they understand and agree with the reasons behind the tracking. Otherwise, you risk losing their trust, their compliance, and their passion for the job itself.

GPS tracking to check vehicle thefts

Chittoor police launch GPS tracking to check vehicle thefts

Tech-savvy Chittoor police on Monday launched an awareness campaign on GPS tracking system, targeting both two and four-wheelers, considering the area’s high vulnerability for vehicle thefts due to its porous borders with Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. All the dealers were instructed to compulsorily issue GPS tracking equipment to new vehicles from Monday. Addressing a gathering of vehicle dealers from Chittoor police sub-division at the Central Crime Station here, Deputy SP (Crime) I. Ramakrishna said 31 mandals shared border with neighbouring States. Deterrent “It is an established fact that any vehicle stolen from these mandals is likely to cross the borders of the district within 15 minutes,” he said, adding that the traditional methods of wheel and steering locks were losing out to the dexterity of criminals. The GPS tracking System was the best deterrent to vehicle thefts, Mr. Ramakrishna said, explaining the technical functioning of the tracker equipment to the dealers and general public at the inaugural session. Owners at risk The owners of stolen vehicles were at risk as they could be used by red sanders smuggling networks, terrorists, highway robbers and chain-snatchers. “The owners should consider fitting the GPS tracking equipment to their vehicles immediately, and also complain to the police immediately in case of their vehicle getting stolen. The system recently helped the police track down a couple of stolen lorries at the border areas. Already 600 vehicles, mostly school and college buses and private transport vehicles, have been fitted with the equipment,” he said. Public can contact the Police Command and Control Centre in Chittoor at 9440900005 for guidance on the GPS tracking system.

How GPS vehicle tracking can transform fleet management?

How GPS vehicle tracking can transform fleet management?

According to a research study by Frost and Sullivan, GPS vehicle tracking systems can raise your fleet’s productivity and vehicle utilization by 10-15% and 15-20% respectively and reduce fuel consumption by 20-25%, idle time by 20-30%, miles driven by 5-10% and overtime by 10-15%. In addition, these GPS based systems put labor saving to 30minutes per day, per driver. Moreover, there is more to GPS vehicle tracking systems than reduce cost and improving vehicle performance.

To understand the full scope what a vehicular technology around GPS is capable of, we must understand what vehicle telematics is.
An ingenious vehicle telematics technology called GPS

Basically, is a crash-resistant black box that receives wireless information, information more advanced than broadcast radio, and does something useful with it. If you know what flight black boxes are for, you’ll have an idea.

Over the years, standard vehicle telematics have evolved to include a cellular data modem, GPS, a backup battery, and connection to sensors. This had led to digital telematics.

Telematics makes your car safer, keeps you from getting lost, summons roadside assistance at the press of a button, routes you around accidents, auto-dials 911 if you’re in the accident, and starts your EV charging at 2 a.m. when rates are cheapest.

GPS vehicle tracking makes an integral part of vehicle telematics and is responsible for smart fleet management systems of today.
Size doesn’t matter

GPS vehicle tracking systems are easily scalable, they can deliver these results for fleets of all types and sizes. Whether you run a service business with 10 or fewer vehicles; a statewide public agency with thousands of cars, trucks, and in-field assets; or anything in between, you can control costs while operating your entire fleet more efficiently.
Smart fleet management systems

GPS vehicle tracking that powers smart fleet managements systems, leverages on telematics from each vehicle of the fleet to improve driver safety by monitoring speeding, hard braking, and other risky driving habits, reduce greenhouse emissions and meet other environmental goals, route drivers more efficiently to improve customer service and on-time deliveries, increase revenues by taking on more business without adding drivers or vehicles and gain a competitive advantage by improving overall fleet efficiency.

Telematics that form smart fleet management system of today has evolved to include engine diagnostic tools (OBD), GPS, IoT devices and sensors, cloud storage and computing, and 4th generation data networks. GPS tracking has given birth to many applications. One of the prominent applications is real-time vehicle tracking.
Real time vehicle tracking using GPS

An onboard GPS unit attached to a compatible adapter under the driver’s seat tracks location based info like a vehicle’s geometrical co-ordinates, speed, and other performance metrics around the clock and pushes it to cloud over a high-speed data connection.

Any person that has access to that cloud can watch real-time movement of the vehicles on a map with the help of a mobile or web app, regardless of the screen in front of him.

Build mobile app can also be to receive push notification in the form of vehicle and performance alerts. An over-speeding driver is hard to spot on a large map, not when you receive an alert on this.
Asset tracking with GPS and IoT devices

For logistics businesses, tracking a vehicle’s location is as important as tracking assets it carrying.

With the help of GPS and IoT devices and sensors installed in and around fixed and mobile assets: trailers, generator, and other large piece of equipment, logistics companies can track the location of their assets in real-time in field or on road. This takes places in the same way fleet companies track their vehicles in real-time, as explained above.

Read more: Important of location based traveling apps for business

Performance tracking with OBD and GPS units

On-board diagnostics monitors fuel usage, emissions, and other engine and vehicle performance metrics and reports them in real-time along with the everyday data GPS units. If trucks in a fleet are consuming more on route B, the fleet operator will learn about it and reroute the trucks on route A rather, thus saving on fuel cost. Moreover, it can tell a rowdy driver from a decent driver.
Data Reporting and Analytics

In addition to the data fed in real-time to enable GPS fleet, performance and asset tracking system, lots of data is stored both locally in the vehicles and in the cloud storage. While a naysayer will make no sense of the data and dump it make room for more, the data, in a tabulated form, can give some interesting insight about a fleet’s operation.

Modern analytics software can tabulate the data to show you some interesting facts and figures in the form of interactive graphs about the progress or decline of your operations. For example, fuel consumed by your fleet last month vs this month.

The problem is a major chunk of data reported by the fleet telematics system is raw. That is an analytics software can’t read it. Is that data any worth?
‘Big Data’ puts you in control

Over a period of time, the raw, presumed useless data from vehicles’ telematics will easily tend 100s of TBs in volume, even PB. By employing Big Data techniques, GPS vehicle tracking systems’ robust reporting capabilities will give you a bigger picture overview of your fleet’s performance.

Fleet management systems characteristically come with many built-in reports providing detailed data on the whole lot: gas usage to idle time, emissions, instances of overspeeding, fleet activity, and more. These reports enable enhanced analysis and policymaking by letting the fleet administrators to set-up and manage the data in ways that meet their particular fleet management requirements.

For instance, they can:

Filter reports to a particular vehicle, asset or a performance parameter
Schedule reports on a daily, biweekly, weekly or once-a-month basis
Set report parameters to contain from 1 to 365 days of data
View comprehensive reports on engine diagnostics, speediness, position, and other discrete vehicle performance metrics
View inclusive reports to evaluate lasting trends and categorize prospects to improve total fleet performance

Real-time notifications you take immediate action on

To improve this momentous view of what’s up with fleet vehicles and those driving it, GPS systems offer real-time alerts letting those managing them to bring pending management decisions on the table the very moment.

E.g., if a vehicle is over speeding way beyond the prescribed limits, the GPS system will send a notification to the fleet handler’s smartphone, who can take apt action the very moment. It can immobilize the engine of the vehicle. Likewise, these notifications can be personalized in several ways.

Altering notification by vehicles, drivers, or groups of each
    Electronic-mail and SMS alerts
Channeling notification according to drivers, customers, supervisors, or the management team

Third party integrations

Further, GPS fleet management systems can outspread your data analysis competences with 3rd party integration: Garmin, Esri® ArGIS® GeoEvent Processor, and AssetWorks. These extended competences deliver a more sophisticated, exhaustive aspect at what each vehicle is doing and where they’re positioned.

By displaying the right info at the exact time, GPS systems give fleet owners unparalleled control over fleet routine, permitting you to make calculated moves to lower costs, raise operation efficiency and improve productivity.
Fleet management transformed

According to Frost & Sullivan, fuel and salaries alone account for an everyday fleet’s operational more than half of expenses and the remaining half includes repairs, upkeep, emissions inspections, cover, and additional operational expenses.

The cost tends to add considerably. If a telematics system equipped with GPS, IoT, and OBD unit cuts fuel consumption by 15 percent and overtime by 10-15 percent, vehicle utilization and productivity will reach another level.

It will allow fleet management companies make more with a fleet of the same size. Their drivers tend to remain happier and vigilant. The fleet company spends less on predictive maintenance tasks and repairs and pay lower insurance premium.

In fact, with our GPS vehicle tracking solution, Peerbits has enabled many fleets in the U.S. accomplish this result every day.

The smart fleet management solution cuts greenhouse emissions, improves driver safety, expands customer service, and more. Eventually, the system will alter how people manage their fleets with the purpose of cut costs and do more with less.
